A24 vampire film with Hunter Schafer already filmed
Published on · Updated on
Hunter Schafer revealed at the Academy Museum Gala that A24's vampire film, directed by Arkasha Stevenson, has already been shot — and might be her favorite job.

Hunter Schafer will star in an A24 vampire film — and, according to the actress herself, the project has already been filmed and might be "my favorite thing I've ever filmed." The reveal came in a relaxed chat on the red carpet of the Academy Museum Gala on the 17th, and has been gaining traction on social media ever since. The production, which has no title or release date yet, is directed by Arkasha Stevenson, the name behind The First Omen, and assembles a heavyweight cast: Emma Corrin, Josh Hutcherson, Havana Rose Liu, Sophie Wilde, Fabien Frankel and Caleb Landry Jones are among the names mentioned, with Ari Aster (Hereditary) as executive producer. The story started at Rolling Stone Brasil.

The red carpet reveal
The chat with Reece Feldman took place at the Academy Museum Gala, a Hollywood charity event held on the 17th in Los Angeles, and one of the clips was posted on the Oscars' official TikTok, where it racked up views. In the remark, Schafer said filming on the feature happened earlier this year and didn't hide her enthusiasm: asked about the part, she joked she wasn't sure she could give it away — the press speculates on whether she plays a vampire, but neither the studio nor the actress has confirmed that detail. The actress added that she and her fellow cast members got to act in a way she described as "completely insane". The light tone of the interview — full of laughs and back-and-forth banter between the two — contrasts with the studio's tightness: A24 has confirmed the project in formal announcements, but remains secretive on production details, the full synopsis and the release window.
The plot: a bachelor party out of control
According to specialized outlets and its IMDb listing, the film follows a bachelor party that completely spirals out of control — a simple premise the production promises to tip toward the supernatural. The wave is nothing new: after the phenomenon of Sinners, which fuses vampirism with Black American history in the Mississippi, and Robert Eggers' Nosferatu, which rediscovered the 1922 classic for a new generation, vampires are back at the top of studios' bet lists — and A24, which already owned auteur horror with Hereditary and Midsommar, is now going for its own slice of the subgenre, with a younger, pop-leaning eye. No title, no release: the industry expectation, as pointed out by Phantasmag, is that the film hits screens as early as next year.
The cast: confirmed names and ongoing talks
The original announcement came from Deadline last November: Emma Corrin, Hunter Schafer, Havana Rose Liu and Sophie Wilde were confirmed, while Josh Hutcherson, Frank Dillane, Caleb Landry Jones and Whitmer Thomas were only in advanced talks. Since then, the list grew — and recent publications already treat the group as locked cast.
- Emma Corrin (The Crown, Nosferatu) — confirmed
- Hunter Schafer (Euphoria, Cuckoo) — leading role
- Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms) — confirmed
- Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me) — confirmed
- Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games, Five Nights at Freddy's) — flagged in talks in the initial announcement
- Fabien Frankel (House of the Dragon) — actor
- Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out, Dracula) — flagged in talks in the initial announcement
- Whitmer Thomas (Weapons), Frank Dillane, Suzanna Son, Emory Cohen (Marty Supreme) and Katelyn Rose Downey (The Nun II) — supporting cast
Beyond the casting puzzle, the lineup is heavyweight: four young leads from buzzy productions, a script signed by the director herself and the backing of the label that turned small horror stories into cultural phenomena.
A24's new horror darling
Arkasha Stevenson made her directing debut with The First Omen, an Omen prequel that surprised critics in 2024 — and is re-teaming with screenwriter Tim Smith, her signature partner. Ari Aster, the man behind Hereditary and Midsommar, joins as executive producer, giving the project a rare pedigree inside the studio. The label's recent slate backs the bet: after re-energizing the genre with titles like Talk to Me — which launched Sophie Wilde, now in the cast — A24 keeps mixing debut directors with rising casts, a formula that has seen box office and awards grow together. Schafer, in turn, is racking up her third straight genre job: after the Euro-horror Cuckoo and Mother Mary, the gothic drama opposite Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, the Euphoria star has carved out her niche — and everything suggests A24 has found a trusted horror actress in her.
A packed schedule: Blade Runner 2099 and the next chapters
The vampire film is only one chapter of Schafer's loaded calendar. She stars in Blade Runner 2099, the new Prime Video series opposite Michelle Yeoh, whose December premiere already has a teaser and an official date — details here on Revista Pixel. The trailer, shown at New York Comic Con, already revealed the duo searching for a "cure for all replicants". On the big screen, there is also Tuner, recently released, and the Amazon MGM Studios holiday comedy Oh. What. Fun.
While the studio doesn't announce a title or date, the market stays hungry for details — and the horror slate isn't slowing down: Paul Feig has taken over the horror film Detention for Blumhouse, and Netflix's The Child already has a release date and cast among the expected releases in the coming months.
